Summary

The book, Parrotfish, by Ellen Wittlinger, is a book about change, acceptance, and unconditional love. This book is written from a third person point of view. It is a fictional story about the main character Grady. But, Gradey wasn't always Grady. Grady was born a healthy baby girl named Angela. This book is basically a documentation of Grady's coming-out to the world as transgender.
Parrotfish, starts out in Grady's garage while he is helping his father take Christmas decorations out of the garage for their front lawn. The rest of the book revolves around the idea of Grady coming out to his entire family and all of his friends as transgender. There are some good reactions, but there are some bad reactions as well. And one that could possibly put his life in jeapordy.
Ellen Wittlinger definetly did her research on the transgender issue, and she makes you feel like you are right in the middle of everything that is happening. A highly recommended book for those who need to realize that... "There is hope", and to, "Never give up"...
